How to Protect Yourself from Energy Vampires

Monthly Challenge: Set a new boundary to protect yourself from energy vampires.

We all have those people in our lives. The ones that drain our energy. They are all about “me” and “my problems”. There is no give and take. They just take and take and take. Until we are left exhausted, with no energy left for ourselves. Well, it doesn’t have to be this way. There are things we can do to protect ourselves. And there are things we can do to remove these energy hooks.

Do you have someone in your life that is an energy vampire? When you hang out with them they drain your energy and you feel completely depleted when you are around them? Maybe they act like their problems are bigger than yours. Or you feel like they take advantage of you.

My challenge to you this month is to give this person some space and set a new boundary to help you restore your energy.

Write down how this person makes you feel.

Now this is the hard part…forgive them. Forgive them, for they know not what they do. And let it go.

I have a simple Forgiveness Prayer that you can say. It goes like this, “I love you. I’m sorry. Please forgive me. Thank you.” Repeat this prayer 10 times outloud as you think of this person and release the hold they have on you.

This is the Hawaiian prayer of atonement. It helps release the energy hold that people or circumstances can have on us. It helps us let go of that energy that we store in our bodies. Say this prayer whenever an energy vampire takes hold over you.

Use your essential oils. Melaleuca is the oil of healthy boundaries. Put a drop of Melaleuca (tea tree oil) in your hand, then massage it around your belly button. Do this before you see this person. It will help protect you. Don’t let their energy into your space. Let it deflect off of you. Create the boundary with your oils and your attitude. You will feel better for it.
